Buying climate hits 14-year lowAs shoppers head into the holiday season, just 30% say now is a good time to spend money, the fewest in 14 years, according to the ABC News-Washington Post Consumer Comfort Index. The overall index fell to a 4-year low, just above the pre-Iraq War nadir. Retailers are hurting as consumers face economic troubles including housing and credit woes and high gas prices.
